Back Country Trout Top Ten Trout Flies for South Island Success
Hares Ear: Hare’s Ear. We have a theory if a trout is nymphing and wont take a small Pheasant tail or Hare’s Ear - you are in trouble! Not always true but close. This pattern can be taken for mayfly nymphs in sizes 18, 16, 14, while 12, 10 ‘s could be taken for sandy cased caddis. Also good in gold beads especially in sizes 18, 16.
